Slavka Ruzicka.

Bohuslava (Slavka) Ruzicka was born in Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic. She left in 1968 when the Russian army invaded the Country. In 1974 she immigrated to the USA, first to Atlanta, Georgia, and then to the Bay Area. She and her husband spent many years abroad and in Houston, Texas.

She started her relationship with the Orinda/Tabor Sister City Foundation in 2011, in connection with the Foundation’s Student Program and then as Vice President.

She and her husband represent Orinda and the Foundation at the Tabor Meetings, the annual historical celebration of the City of Tabor, Czech Republic, with other dignitaries from Orinda. She was instrumental in planting California Redwood and Giant Sequoia Friendship trees in the Tabor Botanical Gardens in 2019.

She and her husband are members of several musical groups that play in the retirement homes in the East Bay.
